About The Song
am1r is a artist, songwriter, and producer from Toronto, Canada. His sound is a unique rendition of R&B, Soul, and Pop, best described as a seamless blend of piano-laced melodies accompanied by rich, melismatic vocals. He is the quintessential modern musician, self-reliant and creative, using modern technology to complement his classical training.
I like clean, audible, and understandable vocals. I like tasteful use of reverb/delay (not overdone) with FX in the right places to enhance certain parts of a song. I like to hear the drums cut through the mix and I prefer a mix to sound “natural”, even if there is processing going on.

Entry Rules and Guidelines:
This is a mixing contest and NOT a remixing contest. All arrangements and production should be left as is. Any entries with alterations in the production, will be disqualified
Sample replacement is okay if you feel it is necessary, just remember that your choice of sounds may hurt you as much as they may help you.
“Mastering” is optional. You aren’t being judged on how loud your mix is, rather how musical and emotional it sounds.
If you aren’t going to master the song, it’s best practice to have the peaks at a reasonable level (-3 to -6dBFS) so it’s not too quiet.
Have fun and experiment, that is what mixing is all about!

How will the winners be contacted?
The 3 winners + the Bonus Prize Winner will first be contacted through SoundCloud. If they haven’t replied within 24 hours, new winners will be chosen based on whoever was the next best
When and where will the winners be announced?
Entry process will close on Dec 12th, 2014 @ midnight but you can still submit your mix to the Soundcloud Group until Dec 14th, 2014. Winners will be announced through email and a Facebook post, the week of December 15th 2014[/toggle]

The winning mixes will be posted on this page, after the winners have been announced.
What happens to the mix if I win?
By winning the competition you will effectively hand over the mix to Modern Mixing and the prize fund is considered your “compensation” for doing so.
How is the winning mix going to be used?
This track is a previous release from a couple of years ago. am1r graciously donated this track for the contest and doesn’t actually have any plans to re-release it. There is always a chance that am1r may love the winning mix and want to share it or re-release it.
If my mix is used will I be credited?
Besides the accolades and interview you’ll get with Modern Mixing, you will most certainly be credited for your work if the track is used/released in the future. Consider winning this competition the same thing as a normal mixing gig. You get paid for your work and you will also receive the credit if the song is released
